On Wednesday, December 10, 2014, Hold Up investigators arrested a man for a series of bank robberies throughout the city.
On Thursday, February 13, 2014, a man attended a bank branch in the Weston Road and Lawrence Avenue West area.
It is alleged that:
- he concealed his identity by wearing gloves, a baseball cap and a hooded jacket
- he approached a teller and showed her a note demanding money
- he threatened to shoot her if she didn't comply
- he lifted up his hoodie, revealing a silver handgun
- the teller handed over a quantity of cash
On Wednesday, October 1, 2014, the same man attended the bank near Bloor Street East and Sherbourne Street area.
It is alleged that:
- he was disguised with a fake beard, wig, and dark glasses
- he approached a teller, produced a note demanding a specific amount of money
- in the note he threatened to kill her
- he was given a quantity of money and fled
On Wednesday, October 15, 2014, he attended a bank branch in the Danforth Avenue and Logan Avenue area.
It is alleged that:
- he had disguised his identity by wearing a fake beard, baseball cap and hoodie
-he handed the teller a typed note indicating a hold up
- no weapon was seen
- he obtained a quantity of cash and fled
On Thursday, November 13, 2014, he attended a bank branch in the Bathurst Street and Lawrence Avenue West area.
It is alleged that:
- he was disguised by wearing a blonde wig, gloves and a hat
- he approached a teller, gave her a note demanding a specific amount of money
- the note also stated he has Hepatitis C and a gun
- he was given some money and left the branch
Further investigation by Hold Up detectives revealed Franco Cavaliere, 28, of Toronto to be the man allegedly responsible for these robberies. He has been charged with:
1) Robbery While Armed with a Firearm
2) three counts of Robbery
3) four counts of Use Disguise with Intent
He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Thursday, December 11, 2014, 10 a.m.
