On Saturday, December 6, 2014, the 24th Annual Etobicoke Lakeshore Christmas Parade will take place. Approximately 500 participants, 10 bands, 20 floats, and 30 vehicles will take part.
Starting at 8 a.m., the parade participants will assemble on Birmingham Street (from Dwight Avenue to Islington Avenue) and on Dwight Avenue (from Birmingham Street to Lake Shore Boulevard West).
At 10 a.m., the parade will proceed:
- southbound on Dwight Avenue: southbound lanes
- westbound on Lake Shore Boulevard West: westbound lanes
- dispersal in the parking lot and on Lake Shore Boulevard West between 36th and 37th Streets
Road closures: 8 a.m.:
- Dwight Avenue, from Lake Shore Boulevard West to Birmingham Street
- Birmingham Street, from Dwight Avenue to Islington Avenue
Road closures: 9:45 a.m.:
- Lake Shore Boulevard West, from Royal York Road to 37th Street
Motorists can expect delays in the area and should consider alternate methods of transportation.
TTC streetcars on Lake Shore Boulevard West will be replaced at 9 a.m. with bus services, which will utilize the following route until the parade has concluded (approximately noon):
- northbound Royal York Road
- westbound on Struthers Street
- westbound on New Toronto Street
- northbound on Kipling Avenue
- westbound on Horner Avenue
- southbound on Brown’s Line
Return: in the opposite direction
The 44 Kipling South bus will return north at the Old Kipling Loop north of Lake Shore Boulevard West.
The Islington 110 Service will run the following route:
- southbound Islington Avenue
- westbound on Birmingham Street
- southbound Ninth Street
- westbound to Tenth Street
- northbound on Coin Street
- eastbound on Garnett Janes Road
