On Monday, April 22, 2013, at 3:48 a.m., police saw a car on the westbound Gardiner Expressway at Highway 427.
It is alleged that:
- the officer saw a 1997 BMW 540i driving at a high rate of speed
- a speed-measuring device, used by the officer, registered a speed of 185 km/h in a 100 km/h zone
A 32-year-old man, of Hamilton, has been charged with:
1) Stunt Driving - Drive at rate of speed 50 km/h or more over speed limit
2) Speeding 185 km/h in a 100 km/h zone
3) Over 80 mgs operation of a motor vehicle
His licence has been suspended for seven days for stunt driving, and 90 days for operating a vehicle with his blood alcohol content over .080 mgs. The vehicle has been impounded for seven days.
It is alleged that alcohol was a contributing factor in this incident.
