Arrest in Human Trafficking investigation, Simeon Harty, 21, faces 23 charges Police believe there may be more victims, Photograph released

On Tuesday, November 11, 2014, Sex Crimes - Human Trafficking Enforcement Team started an investigation into a Human Trafficking occurrence.

It is alleged that:

- a woman, 21, was recruited from the Montreal area

- she was violently assaulted, burned and threatened with a firearm

- she feared for her life

- she was forced into the sex trade industry

- she was taken to hotels in Toronto

- she was forced to work for more than one year

- she was forced to hand over all of her money to a man

On Sunday, December 1, 2014, Simeon Harty, 21, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) Sexual Assault
2) Assault
3) Assault Cause Bodily Harm
4) Carry Firearm in Vehicle
5) two counts of Point Firearm
6) Carry Concealed Weapon
7) two counts of Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
8) two counts of Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
9) Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm in a Motor Vehicle
10) two counts of Overcome Resistance by Choking
11) two counts of Uttering Threats
12) Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting
13) Received Material Benefit of Prositiution
14) Forcible Confinement
15) Exercise Control
16) Living off the Avails of Prostitution
17) two counts of Assault with a Weapon

He appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Monday, December 1, 2014, 10 a.m.

Police believe there may be more victims.
