The Toronto Police Service would like to alert the public to an arrest in a Human Trafficking investigation.
On Friday, November 28, 2014, Sex Crimes - Human Trafficking Enforcement started an investigation into a Human Trafficking occurrence.
It is alleged that:
- two girls, both 15, were assaulted by a man
- they feared for their lives
- they were taken to a hotel in Toronto
- the girls were forced into the sex trade industry
- they were forced to work over a period of two days
- they were forced to hand over all their money to the man
On Friday, November 28, 2014, at 7:30 p.m., Jamie Forbes, 32, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with the following offences:
1) two counts of Trafficking in Persons by Recruiting
2) two counts of Material Benefit Resulting from Trafficking Persons
3) two counts of Trafficking Persons Under of 18 by Exercising Control
4) two counts of Live on Avails of Prostitution Under 18
5) two counts of Exercise Control
6) two counts of Procure a Person for prostitution
7) two counts of Forcible Confinement
8) two counts of Assault
9) two counts of Assault Peace Officer with Intent to Resist Arrest
10) two counts of Assault a Peace Officer
He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, November 29, 2014, 10 a.m., room 101.
Police believe there may be more victims.
