On Monday, November 24, 2014, at 7:01 p.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Orton Park Road and Ellesmere Road.
It is alleged that:
- a 21-year-old man was driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty westbound on Ellesmere Road, approaching Orton Park Road,
- a 25-year-old man was driving a 1999 Acura TL south on Military Trail, approaching Ellesmere Road,
- the vehicles collided in the intersection
The driver of the Acura was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced in hospital.
The driver has been identified as Matthew Habte, 21, of Toronto.
He has been charged with:
1) Dangerous driving causing death
2) Criminal negligence causing death
3) Impaired driving causing death
4) Refuse to provide breath sample causing death
He was scheduled to appear in court at 1900 Eglinton Avenue East on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, room 407, 10 a.m.
