The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of an arrest in an investigation into life insurance fraud.
It is alleged that:
- on Friday, August 22, 2014, a man prohibited from acting as an insurance agent in Ontario, obtained several personal cheques on a victim's previously purchased life insurance policy
- the man defrauded the victim of $25,000
On Monday, November 10, 2014, Laurence Honickman, 42, of Vaughan, was arrested. He has been charged with:
1) Fraud Over $5000
2) Attempt Fraud Over $5000
3) two counts of Uttering a Forged Document
4) Laundering Proceeds of Crime
5) two counts of Fail to Comply with Probation
6) Fail to comply with Recognizance
7) Fail to Comply with Undertaking
He was scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Monday, November 10, 2014, 10 a.m.
He is currently prohibited from acting as an insurance agent or representative.
Police believe there may be more victims.
