Fatal collision #40/2014, Brookmere Road at Kipling Avenue

On Sunday, November 9, 2014, at 5:59 a.m., police responded to a personal injury collision at Brookmere Road at Kipling Avenue involving two vehicles. Westhumber Boulevard is on the west side of Kipling Avenue and changes to Brookmere Road on the east side of Kipling Avenue,

It is reported that:

- a 48-year-old man, driving a TTC bus, was eastbound on Westhumber Boulevard, approaching Kipling Avenue

- a 23-year-old man, driving a Nissan Altima, accompanied by two passengers, was northbound on Kipling Avenue, approaching Brookmere Road

- the TTC bus entered the intersection and was struck by the Nissan

- after the collision, the TTC bus left the roadway, mounted the curb on the northeast corner of the intersection, subsequently striking a traffic pole, fire hydrant, a parked vehicle and finally the CIBC Banking Centre, where the bus came to a stop

The driver and passengers of the TTC bus were taken to hospital suffering from non-life-threatening injuries. A 24-year-old man, a passenger in the Nissan, was pronounced at the scene. The driver and other passenger of the Nissan were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and are now listed in serious but stable condition.
