On Sunday, November 9, 2014 at 9 a.m., a Remembrance Mass will be held at St Francis of Assisi Church, 72 Mansfield Avenue, in the heart of Little Italy.
Members of The Federazione Italiana Dei Combattenti Alleati (FIDCA)(Italian Federation of Allied Soldiers) will be present for this mass to remember all soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice.
A number of representatives of various Italian and Canadian military and police organizations, in their ceremonial uniforms, will be taking part in this event and a number of FIDCA Awards will be presented.
Members of the Toronto Police Service will be present for this mass and two officers will be recognized for their work in the Toronto Italian Community as members of the Service.
This mass, honouring these brave men and women, has become an annual tradition and will be celebrated by parish priest Father Conrad Fernandes.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, a wreath honouring the Unknown Soldier will be placed at the statue of Our Lady of Peace on the south side of the church.
