The Toronto Police Service received a call for the theft of numerous underground vault cover lids between Saturday, September 13, 2014, and Tuesday, October 28, 2014 in the following areas:
- Midland Avenue and McNicoll Avenue
- Finch Avenue East and Bayview Avenue
- McNicoll Avenue and Morningside Avenue
- Fisherville Road and Carpenter Road
- Bishop Avenue and Willowdale Avenue
- McLevin Avenue and Markham Road
It is believed that the lids are stolen for their scrap metal value which is minimal. There is a public safety concern regarding the open holes.
Police are requesting the public’s assistance identifying those responsible for the thefts.
