On Sunday, October 5, 2014, at 5:45 a.m., police received a call for a shooting in the Weston Road and Rogers Road area.
Police arrived and located a man with gunshot wounds. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
He has been identified as Andrew Surage, 47, of Toronto.
It is alleged that:
- Andrew Surage attended 'Captain Social Club,' an after-hours club at 325 Weston Road, with friends in the early morning of Sunday, October 5, 2014
- one of his friends was robbed of his chain and assaulted as they left the club
- Mr. Surage came to his friends aid, asking for the return of the chain
- the suspect refused and left the area
- surveillance images show the suspect go to a parked car, where he may have retrieved a gun
- the suspect returned to find Mr. Surage and his friend
- the suspect produced the gun and shot Mr. Surage once
Mr. Surage later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Investigators believe that the suspect was with three other friends that night, two men and one woman. These three people are now considered Persons of Interest(POI). Investigators believe those three POIs are aware that the suspect had a gun and that he shot Mr. Surage.
The suspect is described as non-white, with light skin, a muscular build, curly hair in a short ponytail and wore dark clothing with a hoodie.
The POIs are described as two black males and one black female.
Surveillance images are now released of the POIs and the suspect, who investigators are urging to come forward to police.
Homicide investigators note that despite the clothing appearing to be light-coloured in the surveillance images that they are indeed dark clothing.
