On Monday, September 29, 2014, TAVIS officers were engaged in proactive policing in the East York community in the Parma Court and Wakunda Place area.
It is alleged that:
- officers found two men in possession of eight pounds of individually wrapped brownies, infused with marihuana
- the men were planning to sell the marihuana brownies to the youth in the community and students of the nearby high school
Two 18-year-old men were arrested.
Waleed Mohamed, 18, of Toronto, and Moshan Afzal, 18, of Toronto, have each been charged with:
1) Possession of Marihuana (Over)
2) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking
They were scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Tuesday, September 30, 2014.
Members of the community, including parents and teachers, are reminded that narcotics are being used in forms and ways, for consumption, that would normally not cause concern or suspicion.
Children and students should be educated that consuming such items can be extremely dangerous. In many cases, they are not only laced with marihuana, but other powerful narcotics.
Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 416-808-0140, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 416-222-TIPS (8477), online at www.222tips.com, text TOR and your message to CRIMES (274637), or Leave A Tip on Facebook.
