Arrest in investigation of thefts from over 50 cars, Randy Pottinger, 46, faces 161 charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in a Thefts From Vehicles investigation.

It is alleged that:

- between Thursday, March 27, 2014, and Saturday, August 30, 2014, 54 vehicles were broken into in the Leslie Street/Sheppard Avenue East area

On Monday, September 15, 2014, investigators executed two search warrants in that area.

Randy Pottinger, 46, of Toronto, was arrested. He is currently charged with:

1) Theft - Over ($5000)
2) 52 counts of Theft - Under ($5000)
3) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime - Over ($5000)
4) 51 counts of Mischief - Under ($5000)
5) 52 counts of Fail to Comply with Probation
6) Fail to Attend Court

He was also wanted on three outstanding warrants.

He is scheduled to appear in court at 1000 Finch Avenue West on Friday, September 19, 2014, 10 a.m., courtroom 306,

Police believe there may be more victims.
