Personal injury collision #39/2014, Eglinton Avenue East near Markham Road

On Monday, September 1, 2014, at 1:47 a.m., police responded to a call for a personal injury collision at Eglinton Avenue East near Markham Road.

It is reported that:

- a 32-year-old man was found lying on the roadway

- during the early morning hours of Monday, September 1, 2014, between 1:30 a.m. and 1:45 a.m., a man was observed attached to the exterior of the rear of a bus

- this dangerous activity was observed and shared on social media

- at some point during that time, the man fell from the vehicle, sustaining injury and was subsequently found on the roadway

The man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

Individuals who attach themselves to vehicles put themselves in grave danger, and face the risk of fatal injuries. This may occur even at low vehicle speeds, sometimes resulting from sudden or unexpected movements of the vehicle, such as swerving, braking or accelerating.

If you see anyone engaged in this activity, the Toronto Police Service asks that you call 9-1-1, so police may respond to the incident and prevent the continuation of this type of activity.
