Four boys, one girl arrested in Minto Street Arson investigation

In the early morning hours of July 31, 2014, Toronto Police and Toronto Fire Services attended Minto Street in relation to a fire at homes under renovation. It was determined that the fire was the result of an arson.

During the investigation, led by detectives from 55 Division, information came to light from the community that helped lead to the arrest of five young people, four of whom were boys and one girl. All are between 14 and 16.

It is alleged that:

- the five youths broke into a home under renovation

- they stole power tools and other items

- then set fire to the home

They all face the following charges:

1) Arson - Endangering Life
2) Break-and-Enter
3) Possession of Property Obtained By Crime Under $5000

On Friday, August 1, 2014, they all appeared in court at 311 Jarvis Street.

The identities of the five young persons cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
