The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest in an ongoing Fraud investigation.
It is alleged that:
- between Tuesday, April 1, 2014 and Thursday, June 5, 2014, a man attended the following Toronto District School Board schools:
1) Inglewood Heights Junior Public School
2) H. A. Halbert Junior Public School
3) Ionview Public School
4) Birchmount Park Collegiate Institute
5) Centennial Road Junior Public School
- the man attended the schools under the guise of a certified teacher
- he worked as a special needs assistant and an education assistant while at the schools
- he was never employed by the Toronto District School Board
On Wednesday, July 30, 2014, Bayol Avah, 27, of Toronto, was arrested.
He is charged with:
1) five counts of Personation to Gain Advantage
He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, September 9, 2014, courtroom 407.
Police believe there may be more schools involved.
