The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two arrests in a Fraud investigation.
It is alleged that:
- between May 2014 and July 2014, businesses in the Greater Toronto Area were contacted
- orders were placed for merchandise using fraudulently obtained credit card information
- a receiver would wait for the merchandise to be delivered to unsuspecting homes in Toronto, then relocate the merchandise
- on Thursday, July 10, 2014, police arrested two men in the midst of relocating the delivered merchandise
Marcus Snow, 38, of Brampton, is charged with:
1) two counts of Fraud - Over ($5,000)
2) Attempt Fraud - Over ($5,000)
3) Fraud - Under ($5,000)
4) two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
5) Laundering Proceeds of Crime
6) two counts of Fraudulently Possess Credit Card Data
7) two counts of Identity Theft
8) Fail to Comply
Troy Bartholomew, 40, of Toronto, is charged with:
1) Fraud - Over ($5,000)
2) Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
3) Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Cocaine
4) Possession of Proceeds Obtained by Crime
5) Fail to Comply
Both men appeared in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Thursday, July 24, 2014.
Police believe there may be more victims.
