On Saturday, July 19, 2014, the Junior Carnival Parade & Festival will take place. The parade will start in the Malvern Community Centre parking lot at 11 a.m. and will be comprised of approximately 2,500 participants (mainly children), nine bands, and 20 vehicles. The conclusion of the parade, will continue with a family-themed festival within Neilson Park until 8 p.m.
Full road closures will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
McLevin Avenue and Sewells Road to Pinery Trail from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Sewells Road and McLevin Avenue to Neilson Road 11 a.m. - 2 p.m.
Neilson Road and Sewells Road to Finch Avenue 11 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Neilson Park Drive and Neilson Road to Blackbird Gate 12 p.m to 3 p.m.
Partial road closures will take place at:
Sewells Road from Neilson Road to McLevin Avenue - the eastbound curb lane will remain open (barricaded).
McLevin Avenue from Sewells Road to Neilson Road the westbound curb lane will remain open (barricaded).
Neilson Road from #1315 Neilson Road to Tapscott Road the southbound lanes will remain open.
The Parade Route starts at 11 a.m., from the formation area which will be Malvern Park.
Eastbound on McLevin Avenue (Eastbound Lanes)
Southwest Sewells Road (Westbound Lanes)
Northbound Neilson Road (Northbound Lanes)
Eastbound Neilson Park Drive to the park entrance
The dispersal area will be at Neilson Park Drive
The event will proceed regardless of weather conditions.
The TTC will incur service disruptions during this event. Some bus routes will be maintained while others will be rerouted around the area.
