On Friday, July 11, 2014, officers from 55 Division were responding to ongoing community concerns of vehicles speeding in the residential neighbourhood of Greenwood Avenue and Walpole Avenue.
It is alleged that:
- the officer saw a motor vehicle driving at a high rate of speed
- the speed-measuring device, used by the officer, registered a speed of 111 km/h in a 40 km/h zone
A 23-year-old man, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1) Stunt Driving - driving more than 50 km/h above a posted speed limit.
His licence has been suspended for seven days. The vehicle he was driving was impounded for seven days.
Any person who lends their vehicle out must realize that, as the registered owner, they are responsible for any monetary charges levied against the vehicle. This includes charges for the vehicle impoundment due to a stunt-driving charge, a Criminal Code prohibition, or a provincial driver licence suspension.
