Sexual Assault Alert, Markham Road/Lawrence Avenue East area, Public assistance sought

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of a sexual assault investigation.

On Wednesday April 3, 2013, at 7 p.m., police were called to the Markham Road/Lawrence Avenue East area for a sexual assault.

It is reported that:

- an 18-year-old woman was seated on a TTC bus when a man sat down beside her

- the man sexually assaulted her while he pretended to sleep

- the man fled the bus when the woman pushed him away

The man is described as brown, approximately 50, with black hair, brown eyes, and a moustache. He was wearing a white waist-length jacket, blue jeans and a black toque.

Police would like to speak to anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or experienced a similar incident while on the TTC.
