Arrest in Bank Robbery investigation, The "Box Cutter Bandit," John Castonguay, 46, faces six charges

On Tuesday, June 3, 2014, Toronto Police Hold Up arrested a man whom police had dubbed the "box-cutter bandit" during a press conference on Tuesday, April, 15 2014.

It is alleged that:

- on Wednesday, March 12, 2014, at 3:10 p.m., the Royal Bank was robbed at Bloor Street West and Royal York Road

- then, at 3:45 p.m., the Scotiabank at Bloor Street West and Windermere Avenue was robbed by the same suspect.

- on Wednesday, March 26, 2014, at 3:40 p.m., the CIBC was robbed at Bloor Street West and Royal York Road.

It is alleged that:

- the man entered the bank and approached a teller

- he leaned into the counter, displaying a box-cutter-style knife in his right hand

- he verbally indicated he was robbing the bank

- he threatened to harm the victim and demanded a specific amount of money

John Castonguay, 46, of Toronto, is charged with:

1) three counts of Robbery
2) three counts of Possession of a Weapon

He was scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at 10 a.m.
