On Thursday, April 4, 2013, 43 Division and Traffic Services Traffic Enforcement Officers will be conducting a targeted road safety campaign in the Kingston Road/Beechgrove Drive area. This safety initiative will begin at approximately 6 a.m. and will focus on speeders, suspended drivers, drivers operating vehicles without insurance and commercial-vehicle violations.

This area has been found have a particularly high number of vehicles travelling above the posted speed limit. A recent Traffic Engineering study found 85 percent of vehicles travelled between 20 and 30 km/h over the posted 60 km/h speed limit. This type of driving behaviour puts all road users at risk.

The need to be aware and alert at all times on any road, even in the most routine circumstances, is a key component to moving through traffic safely. This applies to pedestrians, drivers, cyclists, and transit-users alike. We ask those who drive to take extra care on the roads, reduce your speed, and make smart decisions when using Toronto's roads.

Pedestrians, drivers and cyclists all have a responsibility to ensure they abide by traffic laws so that everyone may enjoy a safe commute. It takes only a second for a life to be lost. Let's all work together to make Toronto roads the safest they can be.

Traffic Services is dedicated to ensuring the safe and orderly movement of traffic within the City of Toronto. Stay informed with what’s happening at:
