The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in a human trafficking investigation.
It is alleged that:
- over a two week period, a woman was recruited and forced into prostitution
- she was held captive and her money and property were withheld by a man
- over a period of three months, the woman was assaulted and threatened with bodily harm
On Wednesday, April 30, 2014, Brandon Fraser, 29, of Toronto, was arrested. He is charged with:
1) Procuring a Person to Become a Prostitute
2) Exercise Control
3) Living on the Avails of Prostitution
4) Withholding or Destroying Document in relation to Trafficking
5) Assault
6) Threatened Bodily Harm
7) Forcible Confinement
8) Trafficking in Persons
9) Receive Benefit from Trafficking in Person
10) Mischief - Under ($5000)
He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, in courtroom 206, on Thursday, May 1, 2014 at 10 a.m.
Police believe there may be more victims.
