In January 2013, acting on information provided by the Insurance Bureau of Canada and Aviva Canada Inc., police started an investigation into a man allegedly misrepresenting himself as a licensed physician.
It is alleged that:
- the accused owned and operated Lindsay Medical Laser Therapy in Lindsay, Ontario
- the accused led the public and various insurance companies to believe he was a licensed physician when he is not licensed to practice medicine in Ontario
The police investigation led to a Canada-Wide warrant issued for the arrest of the accused.
On Tuesday, March 26, 2013, Arun Reddy, 31, of Alberta, was arrested in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta.
He has been brought back to Ontario to face the following charges:
1) four counts of Fraud Over $5,000
2) seven counts of Attempted Fraud Over $5,000
3) three counts of Fraud Under $5,000
4) Attempted Fraud Under $5,000
He is scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at 10 a.m., room 407.
