The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two arrests in a fraud/robbery investigation.
It is alleged that:
- two men approached Chinese victims, spoke to them in Cantonese, and provided a number of different stories to the different victims as to why the men were in need of money
- the victims gave money to the men as they believed the men were in great need of the money
- the victims ranged in age from 19-35, both men and women, of Chinese descent
On Sunday, March 31, 2013, two men were arrested.
Wilfred Wing Leung, 37, and Kin Sing Cheung, 31, both of Markham, have each been charged with:
1. two counts of Attempt Fraud Under
2. five counts of Fraud Under
3. Robbery
Wilfred Leung is charged with an additional two counts of Fraud Under.
They have appeared in court at Old City Hall on Monday, April 1, 2013.
Police belive there may be more victims.
