Arrests made in Elder Abuse/Fraud investigation, Husband and wife charged, Update, Further charges laid

The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of two arrests in an Elder Abuse/Fraud investigation.

It is alleged that:

- a 94-year-old woman, living on her own, hired a housekeeper approximately four years ago,

See previous release.

In the previous news release, the housekeeper, Vera Nunes, 32, and her husband, Luis Serpa Da Conceicao Santos, 38, both of Toronto, were each charged with:

1) two counts of Mischief - Under ($5000)
2) Mischief - Interfere with Property

The two charges of Mischief - Under ($5000) has since been changed to:

1) Fraud - Over ($5000)
2) Theft - Over ($5000)

They have also each been additionally charged with:

1) Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling

They are scheduled to appear in court, at College Park, in courtroom 501, on Friday, April 4, 2014, at 10 a.m.
