On Monday, June 21, 2021 at 6:40 p.m., police received a report of a collision involving a vehicle and a TTC bus on Finch Avenue East near Yonge Street.
It is reported that:
- a 76 year-old-man was driving a silver 2008 Toyota Sienna van westbound on Finch Avenue East
- the TTC bus was also travelling westbound directly in front of the Toyota, and the Toyota struck the rear of the bus
- the driver of the Toyota sustained non-life threatening injuries and the 77 year-old passenger was transported to hospital with life-threatening injuries
- she later succumbed to her injuries in hospital
- four passengers onboard the TTC bus were transported to hospital with minor injuries
The investigation is ongoing by members of Traffic Services. Police are asking local residents, businesses and drivers who may have security or dash camera footage of the area or incident to contact investigators.
