On Monday, March 10, 2014 at 1:30 a.m., police responded to an emergency call for an assault at 14 Gulliver Road">Click here.
It is alleged that:
- Gordon Maracle, 28, had attended the address, contrary to a court order
- a woman refused to allow him into the apartment
- he forced his way in, locked the door and violently assaulted the woman by kicking, punching and choking her, while using a cleaver
- the woman was able to scream for help and officers attended
- the woman was able to break free of her attacker and open the door for police
- once officers were inside, they confronted the man, and he attempted to flee by jumping from the 6th-floor window
- officers were able to grab him by his ankles as he fell, preventing him from serious harm or death
- he continued to disrobe and fight with officers in an attempt to flee and the struggle lasted 10 minutes
- officers were able to apprehend him without any further harm
Gordon Maracle, 28, is charged with:
1) Being Unlawfully in a Dwelling
2) Forcible Confinement
3) Assault
4) Threatening Death
5) Assault with a Weapon
He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Tuesday, March 12, 2014, 10 a.m., room 206.
