The Toronto Police Service has made four arrests after a stolen vehicle was spotted.
On Tuesday, April 13, 2021, officers in the Lawrence Avenue East and Markham Road area observed a stolen vehicle with four occupants inside.
It is alleged that:
- an officer made attempts to stop a car
- the driver then accelerated, striking the door of an unmarked police vehicle while an officer was getting out
- the driver continued driving and stopped in a parking lot in the Ellesmere Road and Markham Road area
- all four exited the car and fled into the park
- a male showed an expandable baton to officers as they approached him
- officers were able to de-escalate the situation and arrest the male
- two females and another male were also arrested by officers
It is further alleged that:
- when a female was searched, a firearm was located
Young Person #1: a 16-year-old boy, of Ajax, was charged with:
1. Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
2. Fail to stop - flight
3. Fail to stop - collision
4. Dangerous operation of a conveyance
5. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
6. Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
7. Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
Young Person #2: a 16-year-old boy, of Toronto, was charged with:
1. Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
2. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3. Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
4. Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
5. Assault peace officer with a weapon
6. Carry concealed weapon
7. Weapons dangerous
8. Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.00
Young Person #3: a 17-year-old girl, of Toronto, was charged with:
1. Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
2. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3. Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
4. Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
5. Carry concealed weapon
6. Weapons dangerous
Young Person #4: a 17-year-old girl, of Toronto, was charged with:
1. Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000.00
2. Unauthorized possession of a firearm
3. Possession of a firearm knowing it is unauthorized
4. Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
All four were scheduled to appear in court virtually at Toronto East Courts, 1911 Eglinton Avenue East, on Wednesday, April 14, 2021, 10 a.m., room 408.
