Appeal for information in firearm investigations involving tow trucks, Highway 401 at Avenue Road and Highway 401 at Leslie Street,

The Toronto Police Service is requesting the public's assistance with three firearm incidents that took place on Highway 401.

On Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at approximately 11:54 p.m. in the Highway 401 and Avenue Road area, police responded to a shooting involving tow trucks.

Less than 15 minutes later, on Thursday, January 21, 2021, police responded to another shooting involving a tow truck in the Highway 401 and Leslie Street area.

It is reported that:

- two tow trucks were parked on the south side of Highway 401 just east of Avenue Road

- a dark couloured sedan that was entering the highway to travel eastbound, began shooting at both tow trucks

- the dark coloured sedan continued eastbound on Highway 401 from Avenue Road

- another tow truck was parked in the parking lot at Highway 401 and Leslie Street when a dark coloured sedan began shooting at it

- the dark coloured sedan then fled eastbound on Highway 401


On Thursday, January 21, 2021 at approximately 7:29 p.m. in the Highway 401 and Avenue Road area, police responded to a radio call for a person with a gun.

It is reported that:

- a tow truck driver had an altercation with another tow truck driver and a firearm was observed

Investigators from the Integrated Gun and Gang Task Force - Centralized Shooting Response Team and 32 Division Major Crime Unit are looking to speak with any witnesses or view any dash cam footage for both investigations.

As a reminder, the date and time span include Wednesday, January 20, 2021 from approximately 11:54 p.m. to Thursday, January 21, 2021 at approximately 7:29 p.m.

We understand people can be reluctant to come forward in these types of incidents as they are often cause concern and some people might feel the information they have is of little importance.
