Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of an arrest in eight robberies between January 7, 2014 and Saturday, February 8, 2014.
On Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 3:44 p.m., police responded to a radio call for a bank robbery on Lake Shore Boulevard West.
It is alleged that:
- a man entered the bank, advised he was armed with a gun, and demanded cash from a teller
- the teller complied and the man walked out of the bank
- the man got into a vehicle and drove off, but was stopped by officers in 51 Division hours later and arrested
- he was identified as being responsible for six other robberies in Toronto and one in Durham Region, for a total of eight robberies
Carlos Olivera, 43, of Brampton, is charged with:
1. eight counts of Robbery
2. eight counts of Disguise with Intent
He appeared in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West on Monday, February 10, 2014.
