The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in relation to a home invasion that occurred on Friday, September 4, 2020, in the St. Clair Avenue West and Avenue Road area.
It is alleged that:
- a woman and a man forced their way into the victim’s apartment while another man waited outside in a getaway vehicle
- as the victim attempted to call 9-1-1, the woman began screaming, punching and scratching the victim
- the man, who was armed with a handgun, stole the victim's cellphone, pointed the gun to his head and then hit him with the gun
- the man then dragged the woman from the residence and they fled in the waiting vehicle
It is further alleged that:
- on Friday, September 18, 2020, the same woman arrived at the victim’s place of work
- she began yelling, swearing, and spat at the victim,
- she fled the building, at which point the victim called police
- the woman was located and taken into custody without incident
Istina Ayo, 22, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Break and Enter Commit
2. Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
3. Two counts of Assault
She appeared for a bail hearing on September 19, 2020, at 10 a.m., at Old City Hall, in room 114.
Two men remain outstanding.
