The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of arrests made in an illicit drug activity investigation.
On Monday, April 27, 2020, the Toronto Police Service Drug Squad arrested four men at a residence in the Park Road North and Highway 401 area in the City of Oshawa. Officers executed search warrants on six vehicles and four residences located in the Oshawa, Thornhill, Burlington and Hamilton areas.
It is alleged that:
- a residence in Oshawa was a make-shift chemical lab, capable of producing large quantities of crystal methamphetamine. The lab was operated within the residence by the home owner
- the house contained chemicals, lab equipment, large quantities of freshly produced crystal methamphetamine, additional controlled substances, and a loaded unregistered handgun
- the clandestine methamphetamine laboratory was safely dismantled, in compliance with Ministry standards, by specially trained members of the Toronto Police Service with assistance from City of Oshawa – Fire Services and Durham Region Paramedic Services
- hazardous chemicals and potentially harmful by-products created during the production of methamphetamine were safely packaged and removed from the residence. These materials have been disposed of safely.
It is further alleged, the following items were seized:
- 43 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, with a potential street-level value in excess of $3.4 million
- approximately three litres of GHB (gamma-Hydroxybutyrate), with a potential street-level value of approximately $3000
- five kilograms of Ketamine, with a potential street-level value of $135,000
- various chemicals, equipment, and glassware used in the production of methamphetamine
- a .32 calibre semi-automatic pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition
On Monday, April 27, 2020, Richard Alexandre, 56, of Oshawa, was arrested. He is charged with:
1. Production of Crystal Methamphetamine
2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Crystal Methamphetamine
3. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB)
4. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Ketamine
5. Unauthorized Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
6. Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
7. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
8. Possession of a Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to a Prohibition Order
On Monday, April 27, 2020, Richard Jansen, 36, of Burlington, was arrested. He is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Crystal Methamphetamine
2. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in Gamma-Hydroxybutyrate (GHB)
3. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Ketamine
4. Unauthorized Possession of a Loaded Prohibited or Restricted Firearm
5. Possession of a Firearm knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
6. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
On Monday, April 27, 2020, Brendan Coates, 37, of Oshawa, was arrested. He is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Crystal Methamphetamine
On Monday, April 27, 2020, Kyle Zettler, 34, of no fixed address, was arrested. He is charged with:
1. Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Crystal Methamphetamine
All four men were released on bail and will be appearing in at Oshawa Court on Thursday, July 9, 2020, in room 108.
The Toronto Police Service want to remind the public that clandestine chemical drug labs can be highly volatile and are prone to fire, and even explosion. Illegal drug labs pose an immediate risk to public safety.
