Media advisory, Monday, January 20, 2014, 11:30 a.m., Police headquarters, media gallery, 2013 Public Heroes Awards

On Monday, January 20, 2014, at 11:30 a.m., in the media gallery at police headquarters, 40 College Street, the Intercultural Dialogue Institute (IDI) Toronto, in partnership with Toronto Police Service, Toronto Emergency Medical Services and Toronto Fire Services, will be holding a media launch to announce the nomination process for the 2014 Public Heroes Awards.

The Public Heroes Awards recognizes police officers, firefighters and paramedics for outstanding delivery of services and are selected based on the following three criteria: altruism, dedication and community involvement.

Senior command officers from Toronto TPS, EMS and TFS, along with emergency service representatives from across the GTA, will also present awards of recognition to outstanding students who have excelled in police, fire and paramedic studies.

The winners of the The Public Heroes Awards will be announced on April 23, 2014 at the Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre at 6 Garamond Court.
