Arrest made in a Bank Robbery and Two Carjackings, Joshua Auld, 27

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to advise the public of an arrest made in a bank robbery and two carjacking investigations.

On Saturday, April 4, 2020, a bank robbery was committed in the Roncesvalles Avenue and Howard Park Avenue area.

It is alleged:

- a man entered a bank concealing his identity with a face mask and sunglasses

- the man approached the teller and made a demand for cash

- the man pulled out a small black handgun and threatened the employees

- the suspect took a quantity of cash and then fled the area on foot


On Sunday, April 5, 2020, two carjacking robberies took place in the Bloor Street West and Dundas Street West area.

It is further alleged that:

- the suspect attended a parking lot and approached a man sitting inside a car

- the suspect got into the vehicle and began assaulting the man sitting inside the car

- the suspect took out a knife and stabbed the man in the car multiple times. He suffered serious injuries.

- the suspect then fled in the car, and the victim was dragged a short distance

- the suspect shortly lost control of the vehicle and hit a fence

- a man in another vehicle stopped to assist

- at this time, the suspect got into the man's vehicle that had stopped to assist

- he was unable to drive it

- he then fled the scene on foot


Police were called and and after a brief foot pursuit an arrest was made.


It is further alleged that:

- the knife used by the suspect was located


On Sunday, April 5, 2020, Joshua Auld, 27, of Toronto was arrested. He is charged with:

1. Robbery with an Offensive Weapon
2. Robbery with a Firearm
3. Robbery
4. Disguise with Intent
5. Use Firearm during Commission of Indicatable Offence
6. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
7. Possession of a Weapon
8. Aggravated Assault
9. Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance
10. Fail to Comply with Release Order

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, April 6, 2020, at 10 a.m., in room 101.
