The Coronavirus Pandemic has created the perfect opportunity for scammers seeking to defraud worried, isolated and emotionally vulnerable targets.
This afternoon from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., we will be discussing the latest COVID19 scams popping up in Canada, how to spot them and how to protect yourself. Members of the public can follow the Toronto Police Financial Crimes Unit, Detective Regan and Detective Constable Kelly using Twitter handles @ReganFCU @DKellyFCU and @TPSFCU.
To follow #Fraudchat, members of the public simply need to log onto Twitter from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m., and follow the #Fraudchat hashtag. Social media dashboard applications such as "TweetDeck", which allows users to separately view tweets containing this hashtag, is also helpful in following the chat.
