Man arrested for two Retail Robberies in Toronto

The Toronto Police Service Hold Up Squad would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in relation to two retail robberies that occurred in Toronto.

It is alleged that:

- on both Saturday, February 8, 2020 and Wednesday, February 12, 2020, a retail store robbery was committed in Toronto

- in one of the incidents, a man entered the store while concealing his face with a black balaclava

- in the other incident, the same man was armed with a knife

- in each incident, he approached the store employee(s) and made demands for money, cigarettes and lottery tickets

- he took a quantity of money, cigarettes and lottery tickets

- he was then observed fleeing the area on foot

Hold Up Squad investigators located and arrested a man. A search warrant was executed and officers located and seized clothing, as well as property, related to the robberies.

Nicholas Lester McGrath, 30, of Toronto, was charged with:
1. two counts of Robbery With Offensive Weapon
2. two counts of Disguise With Intent
3. Possession of Weapon
4. two counts of Possession Property Obtained by Crime
5. two counts of Fail to Comply Probation

He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Monday, February 17, 2020, 2 p.m., room 101.
