The Toronto Police Service is alerting the public to a sexual assault investigation.
On Thursday, January 2, 2014, police received a call for a sexual assault in the Carr Street and Bathurst Street area.
It is alleged that:
- on Wednesday, January 1, 2014, at 5:45 a.m., a woman flagged down a taxi in the Bloor Street West and Markham Street area
- the driver drove the woman to the Carr Street and Bathurst Street area
- the driver followed the woman out of the taxi and sexually assaulted her as she approached a home
- the suspect fled the scene in the taxi
On Tuesday, January 2, 2014, at 1 p.m., Jeyakumar Balasubramaniam, 38, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:
1) Sexual Assault.
He is scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, February 3, 2014, 10 a.m., room 111.
