In early December 2013, the TPS Hold Up Squad, assisted by members of the Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Unit, began an investigation into a series of convenience store robberies in the Toronto and Peel regions.
It is alleged that armed robberies were committed at:
- the Hasty Market on Rathburn Road on December 6, 2013
- Fieldgate Convenience, on Fieldgate in Mississuagua, on December 6, 2013
- Hasty Market on Dundas Street West on December 14, 2013
- Hasty Market on Rathburn Road on December 17, 2013
On Thursday, December 19, 2013, the TPS Hold Up Squad assisted by the ETF, 22 Division, 42 Division, Peel Regional Police Central Robbery Unit, executed a series of search warrants in Toronto.
Two men were arrested and, as a result, further search warrants were sought.
On Thursday, December 19, 2013, two additional search warrants were executed in Toronto and Mississauga.
It is alleged that:
- three sawed-off rifles, an air rifle, a pellet gun and a quantity of ammunition were seized during the search warrants
Vidar Pooran, 21, of Toronto, is charged with:
1. three counts of Robbery While Armed with a Firearm
Tyvon Callahan, 18, of Toronto, is charged with:
1. two counts of Robbery While Armed with Firearm
2. Disguise with Intent
A 16-year-old boy is charged with:
1. four counts of Robbery While Armed with a Firearm
2. four counts of Disguise with Intent
3. three counts of Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
4. three counts of Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
5. three counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
6. three counts of Possession of Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
7. three counts of Careless Storage-Firearm
8. Careless Storage-Ammunition
Emilio Verostegui-Imbriglio, 18, is charged with:
1. three counts of Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
2. three counts of Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3. three counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
4. three counts of Possession of Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
5. Careless Storage-Firearm
6. Careless Storage-ammunition
A 17-year-old boy is charged with:
1. three counts of Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
2. three counts of Possession of Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3. three counts of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
4. three counts of Possession of Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
5. three counts of Careless Storage-Firearm
6. Careless Storage-Ammunition
A 16-year-old boy is charged with:
1. four counts of Robbery While Armed with Firearm
2. three counts of Disguise with Intent
