The Toronto Police Service requests the public's assistance with an Attempt Murder investigation.
On Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at approximately 11:15 a.m., officers responded to a call for a Shooting in the Jane Street and Queens Drive area.
It is alleged that:
- two groups of people encountered each other in a convenience store
- both groups brandished guns and there was an exchange of gunfire
- one group fled in a car
- they struck another uninvolved vehicle head on
- they all fled on foot discarding a firearm nearby
- the firearm was recovered by officers
- the other group fled the scene in a dark colored car
Occupants of the uninvolved vehicle received minor injuries.
Cosmo James, 34, of Toronto, has been arrested. He is charged with:
1. two counts of Attempt Murder
2. Possess Loaded Firearm
3. Possess Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a License
4. Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Without a Licence
5. Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
6. four counts of Breach of Prohibition Order
Nathaniel Grant, 34, of Toronto, has been arrested. He is charged with:
1. Possess Loaded Firearm
2. Possess Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a License
3. Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Without a Licence
4. Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
5. four counts of Breach of Prohibition Order
They appeared in court at Toronto West court on Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 10 a.m., in room 206.
Investigators have identified two other suspects.
Dwight John, 22, of Toronto, is now wanted for:
1. three counts of Attempt Murder
2. Possess Loaded Firearm
3. Possess Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a License
4. Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Without a Licence
5. Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
6. Fail to Comply with Recognizance
7. Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime
Malik Christie, 20, of Toronto, is wanted for:
1. Possess Loaded Firearm
2. Possess Prohibited Firearm Without Holding a License
3. Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Without a Licence
4. Occupy Motor Vehicle with Firearm
5. Fail to Comply with Recognizance
6. Possess Firearm Obtained by Crime
They are believed to be violent, armed and dangerous. If located, do not approach. Call 9-1-1 immediately.
