The Toronto Police Service would like to make the public aware of an arrest made in an Attempt Murder Investigation.
It is alleged that:
- On Thursday, April 4, 2019, at approximately 2:00 p.m., a group which consisted of males and females were seated in a vehicle
- the vehicle was parked in the parking lot of a school in the Grandravine Drive and Jane Street area
- at this time a man, armed with a firearm, approached the vehicle on foot
- the man fired multiple shots into the vehicle and fled the area on foot
- members of the West Command Gun Violence Suppression Unit responded to the call, and investigated
- a 16-year-old girl who was seated in the vehicle suffered a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the leg and was taken to hospital where she received treatment
- as a result of the investigation a suspect was identified
On Sunday, April 7, 2019, Jae Quonne Hamilton, 18, of Toronto was arrested.
He has been charged with:
1) Four counts of Attempt Murder
2) Possess Loaded regulated firearm
3) Possess restricted or Prohibited firearm without holding a licence and registration certificate
4) Possess restricted or prohibited firearm knowingly not holding a licence and registration certificate
5) Carry concealed weapon
6) Aggravated assault
7) Two counts of Assault with intent to resist arrest
He is is scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday, April 9, 2019, at 1000 Finch Avenue west, 10:00 a.m.
