On Friday, November 22, 2013, at 1:30 p.m., police responded to a robbery call at the Kentucky Fried Chicken on The Queensway.
It is alleged that:
- the accused entered the store and placed a food order
- as the employee was accepting the money from the accused, he pointed a gun at her and demanded money from the register
- the employee screamed and the accused fled with a quantity of money
- the accused fled in a vehicle which was stopped by police a short time later
On Saturday, November 23, 2013, a search warrant was executed by the Hold Up Squad with the assistance of 22 Division Major Crime Unit at the accused's home.
It is further alleged that the following was seized:
- a 9mm semi-auto handgun loaded with ammunition
- a long-barrelled rifle (pellet gun) black in colour with a scope
- a semi-automatic handgun pellet gun
- a quantity of money obtained from the robbery
- crack
- drug paraphernalia (scales and packaging)
Michael Knight, 29, of Toronto, has been charged with:
1. Robbery While Armed with Firearm
2. Possession of Cocaine
3. Possession of Restricted Firearm with Ammunition
4. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
5. Careless Storage-Firearm
6. Possession of Firearm Knowing it's Possession is Unauthorized
7. Possession For the Purpose Cocaine
He appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, November 23, 2013.
