Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of three arrests in an ongoing investigation into cell phone store Robberies.
It is alleged that:
- on Thursday, August 23, 2018, two men attended a cellular store in the Albion Road and Islington Avenue area
- the two men posed as customers and inquired about several phones
- they left and returned about ten minutes later, along with two more men who had their faces partially concealed
- the initial men began pushing the victim away from the counter, attempting to get to the cell phones
- one man lifted up his hoodie and displayed the butt of a handgun
- all four men fled the store emptyhanded
It is further alleged that:
- on Monday, August 20, 2018, three men attended a cell phone sale and repair store in the Danforth Avenue and Greenwood Avenue area
- one man indicated to the victim that he was armed with a gun while two men jumped over the counter and removed several phones from the shelves
It is further alleged that:
- on Friday, July 27, 2018, two men entered a cell phone store in the Parliament Street and Dundas Street East area and asked about purchasing a new phone
- the victim showed the men several phones
- one man walked to the other side of the shop and jumped the counter, removing cell phones from the display
- the victim attempted to intervene but he was grabbed and threatened not to interfere
Following an investigation by TPS Hold Up, on Friday, August 24, 2018, three men were arrested.
Damian Blackett, 19, and Adrian Fraser, 25, both of Toronto, were each charged with:
1) three counts of Robbery with Violence
2) three counts of Disguise with Intent
John Fraser, 28, of Toronto, was charged with:
1) Possession of Cocaine
2) Possession for the Purpose - Cocaine
3) Possessions of Proceeds of Crime
They all appeared in court at Old City Hall on Saturday, August 25, 2018, room 101.
The investigation is ongoing and two men are still outstanding. One of the men was in possession of a handgun. They are described as black, 20-25, and were disguised.
