Members of the Toronto Police Service Human Trafficking Enforcement Team have made an arrest in an investigation into an alleged Human Trafficking occurrence.
It is alleged that:
- a woman, 21, was forced to work in the sex trade by two men and a woman
- she was trafficked in the Greater Toronto Area by them
- she was forced to abide by rules they imposed on her
- they demanded she turn over all of her earnings to them
- they used deception, false promises, intimidation and fear to exercise control over the actions and movements of the woman
It is further alleged that:
- on one occasion, one of the men and the woman sexually assaulted her
On Thursday, May 10, 2018, Daylo Robinson, 27, and Rebecca Horton, 22, were located in Peel Region and arrested.
On Thursday, May 31, 2018, at 4 p.m., members of the Human Trafficking Enforcement Team located, arrested and charged Joshua Scanlan, 20, of Durham Region, with:
1. Trafficking in Persons under 18 Years of Age by Recruiting
2. Procuring Person Under 18 Years
3. Trafficking in Persons Under 18 Years of Age by Exercising Control
4. Exercise Control
5. Material Benefit from Trafficking in Persons under 18 Years of Age
6. Material Benefit from Sexual Services Provided of Person Under the Age of 18 Years
7. Advertise Another Person's Sexual Services
He appeared in court at Old City Hall, on Friday, June 1, 2018, at 10 a.m., in room 101.
Police would like to encourage all affected individuals to come forward and report Human Trafficking occurrences to police. We want to make sure that everyone has access to support services and an exit strategy, regardless of their decision to proceed criminally.

They can be coerced through violence or the threat of violence against family and friends.
