Man, 42, arrested in east end pharmacy Robbery series, Faces 54 charges

Toronto Police Service Hold Up would like to make the public aware of an arrest and charges in a series of 18 retail robberies over the past six months.

It is alleged that:

- between Thursday, September 28, 2017 and Tuesday, March 20, 2018, pharmacies were targeted, mainly in the east end of Toronto

- 15 robberies were committed in Scarborough, two in York Region and one in Durham Region

- the man entered the premises disguising his identity with his face covered

- he approached the counter and produced a large knife

- he made demands for specific narcotics from the pharmacist

- after receiving narcotics, he fled from the area on foot

After a lengthy investigation by Toronto Police Service Hold Up, with the assistance of the robbery units of York Regional Police and Durham Regional Police Service, and TPS Divisional Major Crime Units, a man was arrested following a robbery on Tuesday, March 20, 2018, at a pharmacy near Sheppard Avenue East and Markham Road.

It is further alleged that:

- two large knives were recovered during the arrest, along with a quantity of narcotics

Kenneth Mark, 42, of Toronto, was arrested and charged with:

1) 18 counts of Robbery
2) 18 counts of Disguise with Intent
3) 18 counts of Possession Weapons Dangerous

He was scheduled to appear in court at 1911 Eglinton Avenue East on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, 10 a.m., room 412.
