The Toronto Police Service would like to advise the public of a wanted man considered to be dangerous.
It is alleged that:
- during the late-evening hours of Wednesday, March 14, 2018, a man attended a friend's home in the 401 and Port Union Road area
- while at the home, the man got into an argument and damaged the vehicle and the garage door of the homeowner
- the man was driving a stolen 2010, four-door brown Honda Civic, with Ontario licence plate BBPD-789
- a few hours later, in the early morning of Thursday, March 15, 2018, police responded to a Break-and-Enter in progress at an apartment building in the Sheppard Avenue East and Birchmount Road area
- police located the man near the building and a foot pursuit took place
- the man got into his stolen vehicle, rammed a parked police car and fled
- the man was driving at a high rate of speed and was not pursued by police
The man has been identified as Majid Mehar, 35, of Toronto. He is wanted for:
1) Possession Property Obtained by Crime
2) Mischief Over $5000.00
3) two counts of Fail to Stop at Scene of Accident
4) three counts of Fail to Comply Recognizance
5) two counts of Dangerous Operation of Motor Vehicle
6) four counts of Driving While Disqualified
Police are concerned about his actions in the last 24 hours and are concerned for anyone who may come in contact with him. If you see him, or the stolen vehicle, please call 9-1-1. Do not approach him.
He is described as 5'9", 150-160 lbs., very short black hair, long beard. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, dark army pants.
It is believed that the stolen vehicle will have damage to the front end from the collision with the parked police car.
