Boy, 17, arrested in carjacking investigation, Woodbine Avenue and Danforth Avenue area, Faces six charges

The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest in a carjacking investigation.

On Wednesday, February 14, 2018, police received a radio call to attend the Woodbine Avenue and Danforth Avenue area.

It is alleged that:

- a 29-year-old woman was returning to her vehicle when she was accosted by a male

- the male pushed the woman to the ground and began pulling at her keys

- a witness heard the woman screaming for help and attempted to assist

- the male threatened to shoot the witness

- the male drove away in the woman's vehicle

On Sunday, February 18, 2018, 54 Division Major Crime Unit arrested a 17-year-old boy.

It is further alleged that:

- at the time of arrest, he was in possession of an imitation firearm

He has been charged with:

1) Use Imitation Firearm/Commit Indictable Offence
2) Robbery/ Offensive Weapon
3) Possess Weapon/Dangerous to Public Peace
4) Possess Property or Thing Obtained by Crime/Exceeding
5) Uttering Threats/Death or Bodily Harm
6) Possess Property or Thing Obtained by Crime/Not Exceeding $5000

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall on Monday, February 19, 2018, 10 a.m.

He cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
