Project ICE, Man faces 10 charges, Gun seized

On Saturday, August 31, 2013, members of the TAVIS Rapid Response Team were patrolling the area of Kipling Avenue, north of Finch Avenue West.

The team was conducting proactive enforcement activities and patrolling residential areas with high-visibility policing in response to recent gun crimes.

Officers observed a small group of men at an address on Kipling Avenue.

It is alleged that:

- as the officers approached, one man fled on foot

- after a short foot pursuit, the man was arrested

- a loaded handgun and a quantity of drugs were seized


Jordan Mansingh, 25, was charged with:

1. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
2. Possession of a Firearm Knowing its Possession is Unauthorized
3. Possession of a Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
4. Careless Storage of a Firearm
5. Weapons Dangerous
6. Carry Concealed Weapon
7. Possession of Firearm Obtained by the Commission of an Offence
8. Possession for the Purpose Marijuana (under)
9. Possession of Marijuana (under)
10. Possession of Proceeds of Crime

He was scheduled to appear in court at Old City Hall, on Sunday, September 1, 2013, room 111, 10 a.m.

The Toronto Anti Violence Intervention Strategy (TAVIS) is a Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services Provincially funded initiative, dedicated to creating and maintaining sustainable, safe neighbourhoods. TAVIS initiatives are operating in all the 17 Toronto Police Divisions, and supported by every unit in the Service.
