The Toronto Police Service is requesting assistance identifying a woman wanted in a Distraction Theft investigation.
It is reported that:
- on Monday, December 4, 2017, at 1:40 p.m., a woman, 85, was in a drug store in the Sheppard Avenue West and Bathurst Street area
- prior to attending the store, the woman, 85, had withdrawn money
- at the store, the woman, 85, was trying to select an item when she was approached by another woman who offered her assistance
- that woman then pretended to be a Good Samaritan and helped the woman, 85, select an item
- while the woman, 85, was distracted, the other woman reached into her purse and stole her money
The incident was captured on store security cameras and images have been released.
The woman is described as 25-35, 5’6”-5’8”, 130-140 lbs., dark/brown/black straight shoulder-length hair. She was wearing a white puffy winter coat with fur trim on the hood, tight white pants, white winter boots with white fur trim. She was carrying a black purse and wearing dark sunglasses.
