The Toronto Police Service would like to inform the public of an arrest and firearm seized in a Robbery investigation.
On Sunday, October 22, 2017, at approximately 5:45 p.m., officers responded to a call for a robbery with a weapon in the Dixon Road and Royal York Road area.
It is alleged that:
- a man approached a 16-year-old boy and brandished a knife
- the man made demands for the boy's property
- the boy turned over his cell phone
- the man fled
On Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at 5:25 p.m., a 17-year-old boy was arrested. During his arrest the boy was found to be in possession of a loaded handgun.
He has been charged with:
1. Robbery with a Weapon
2. Possession of Prohibited Firearm with Ammunition
3. Unauthorized Possession of a Firearm
4. Possession of a Firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized
5. Tampering with the serial number of a firearm
6. Carry Concealed Weapon
7. Possession of a Prohibited Device
8. Careless Storage Firearm
The name of the young person cannot be released under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
He is scheduled to appear in court at 2201 Finch Avenue West, on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at 10 a.m.
